BRING YOUR OWN MUG DISCOUNTS
As we navigate the current supply chain issues, sometimes our costs go up. Instead of raising prices, we want to reward you for helping us be more sustainable. We’re launching a Bring your own mug (BYOM) double discount program.
Depending on what is more expensive for us to source, we’ll double the discount on either hot or cold drinks in an effort to encourage you to bring your own mug or cup or tumbler. We always discount drinks for customers bringing their own cups, but we’re doubling down.
We’ll post discount changes (hot vs. cold) on Instagram and have in-store signage so you can make sure to take advantage. Follow us @CoffeeCycleRoasting on the ‘gram. That’s a cool way to say it…right?
Stay tuned for more opportunities to be Earth and Coffee Cycle friendly.

In big shop news, we have a new house roasted offering replacing our Guatemala roast. As Coffee Cycle’s close direct trade partner farm’s flagship coffee, we couldn’t be happier with this offering from Cafe Corazón.
This coffee is roasted right here in San Diego and is great as a hot coffee, iced coffee, or espresso. Cafe Corazón farm is located in the heart of Tarrazu, the most celebrated coffee-growing region in Costa Rica. Perched on the side of a steep mountain, the Corazón farm produces incredible coffees with its ideal microclimate and rich volcanic soil.
Over the last decade or so, Cafe Corazón has been pushing the envelope with innovation in coffee processing. With some investment fueled by their relationship with Coffee Cycle, Corazón has built coffee cherry processing facilities that allow them full control over how their coffee is processed. They have a wide variety of processes produced every year, including various honey processed offerings, some natural processed coffees, and even some incredible and unique anaerobic coffees.
This particular offering from Corazón was selected by the roasting team at Coffee Cycle out of a huge selection from Corazón‘s offerings. The Black Honey Corazón is a selection of both Caturra and Red Catuai varieties. Of all the different honey processes, the Black Honey leaves the most fruit on the bean before drying. This creates a cup profile that is rich and creamy, with just subtle hints of dark fruit. For our everyday coffee here at Coffee Cycle, we think this is a pretty perfect cup.
COFFEE SMARTER
Another class of Coffee Smarter 101 graduates is out in the world. Chris has been hosting a monthly class at Acento Coffee Roasting (where we do all of our roasting) that has been selling out. It says 101, but by the time class is over, we’re definitely delving into 201 territory!
The February class was very engaged with lots of Q&A, especially after we fueled everyone with some Ethiopia Washed and Natural coffee to compare. The class covers coffee history, chemistry and flavor, and the impact the coffee industry has economically at a macro and micro scale.
If you’re interested in joining a future class, buy tickets online ASAP. All of the classes are limited to 10 guests and have sold out each month.
If you can’t make it to a class, you can listen to Chris talk about coffee on the Roast! West Coast coffee podcast where he is a frequent guest as a Coffee Smarter Expert. You can listen on these platforms:
